Looking down from the top of what is now Ermysted Street, the Old Grammar School is behind Park Mill weaving shed and the track leads past The Wilderness and on to the back of Sunmoor Drive. The less distinct track passing between the barns is Shortbank road leading to the roman road and on to Ilkley which was once the main road East from Skipton. It was described by one eminent 18th Century visitor as the steepest road in England
